Collective Bargain Agreements
The employees of the Department of Works, (sanitation and highway workers) are covered by a collective bargaining agreement. A new agreement is currently being negotiated to cover their benefits and all other issues which are the subject of a collective bargaining agreement. The Mayor serves as the spokesman for the Village. Civil Service Law Sections 200-214, known as the Taylor Law, provide the right of employee to collectively unionize. The Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) resolves disputes between employers and employees. Managerial employees are excluded.
