Neighbors for Neighbors
A Program to Help Residents
Mayor Michael Koblenz, the Board of Trustees, and chair Clara Pomerantz are excited to announce “Neighbors for Neighbors,” a new program designed to match volunteers from East Hills with members of the community in need of assistance.
After Hurricane Sandy, our community was faced with a lack of many basic essentials, including heat, lights, and hot water. But, even while lacking these amenities, we saw countless examples of our residents’ generosity as they contributed food, desserts, and other necessities. Their display of kindness and concern has inspired the “Neighbors for Neighbors” initiative.
The help provided could include something as simple as periodically knocking on the door of an elderly neighbor to ensure that everything is fine to helping a fellow resident during some reported emergency.
