Lost/Found Dog or Cat in East Hills?

East Hills is introducing a new and unique program to help our residents locate their lost pets. All that is needed is one call to our Village in order to launch an all-out volunteer effort.  Our new program is called “PET ALERT.” We will utilize email, social media capabilities, civic associations, neighboring villages, related Facebook pages, civic groups, local veterinarians and shelters, in order to increase the maximum probability that a pet will be returned home safely.

Here’s how the new PET ALERT program works:

Step 1:  When a pet goes missing, the resident/pet owner should either:

  • Submit the “Missing Pet Questionnaire” form through the Village website here: PET ALERT FORM, or
  • Call our 24-hour Village Security Dept. at 516-484-7052.

Step 2:  All Information from the resident must then be sent directly to our PET ALERT Administrator, Trustee Stacey Siegel, via the Village Website or through the Village Security.  The Administrator will speak with the resident to obtain pertinent details about the missing pet, and obtain a photo of the pet.

Step 3:  PET ALERT initiates the program by sending emails to the internal Village email list, which includes the Mayor and Board, department heads and assistants.

Step 4:  After one hour, if the pet has not been found, VEH will send an email blast to:

East Hills Residents,  Neighboring Villages, VEH Civic Associations, local Veterinarians & Animal Hospitals, Animal Shelters, Roslyn Schools Transportation Dept., Greenvale/Roslyn Post Offices, and Police.

Step 5: PET ALERT will post details on relevant FB pages such as: “East Hills Connections,” “East Hills Dog Park,” “Roslyn Moms & Dads, Roslyn Moms,” ”Long Island Lost & Found Pets Long Island,” and “Lost Dog Carmela – Long Island, NY.”

Step 6: PET ALERT will design/print on 8 1/2”x11”, or larger dimensions if requested, “Lost Pet” posters at cost, for the owner. The poster states a reward is being offered if approved and paid for by the owner, and includes a picture of pet and owner’s contact information.

Step 7: PET ALERT notifies the owners when the pet is found and assists in reuniting pet with owner.

Step 8: PET ALERT provides updates to public, once the pet is found via email and FB.

Thank you.
