July 4th Fireworks Show as Great as Promised!
The 2018 Fireworks show received unanimous rave reviews. Once again over 3,500 people watched the show which was made by the support of Rallye Motors. The new show, which featured choreographing for the first time, was nearly postponed when the weather was not initially cooperating. Then one hour before the shows, as if on cue, the drizzle stopped, the clouds moved on, red skies appeared and the Park was ready for the great show.
Many of the most distinguished elected officials flanked the Mayor from State Senator Elaine Phillips, Assemblyman Chuck Lavine, Assemlyman Anthony D’Urso, Councilman Peter Zuckerman, and Mayor Paul Peters of Roslyn Estates.
The Mayor started by commemorating the freedom fighters in the War of Independence. Mayor Koblenz said: “Today, we remember, with the greatest admiration and appreciation all those who fought for our freedoms during the eight year War of Independence. Their crusade was to establish a democratic nation with the finest rule of law. Today, we enjoy the greatest freedoms, whether of speech, religion, the right to assemble, press, or the ability to petition the Government.”
The Mayor used for the first time the new motto of the Village. “East Hills,” he said is a great community, “Like No Other!”
He thanked the members of his board which include Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman, Trustee Clara Pomerantz, Trustee Brian Meyerson and Stacey Siegel, and ALSO recognized village attorney, Bill Burton, Village Attorney.
Then he said: “Let the Games Begin” and the fireworks filled the skies.
