Jewish Genealogy Event

The East Hills Social Committee will hold a free course on Jewish Genealogy, on Monday, 12 June 2023, from 7:00-8:00pm, in the East Hills Village Theater. The course on genealogy will describe how to get started on family trees using information residents already know, how to search through available documents and resources, how to search for spelling variations and name changes, how to read and interpret these documents, and how to use the JewishGen.org and other facilities.

The course will be given by East Hills resident, Gary Pokrassa, CPA CGMA. Gary has spent the last 20 years becoming a devoted genealogist and has found 2,600 people in his own family tree. He has retired from his position as a CPA/public company CFO, and genealogy has become his main activity in his retirement.

The course will also examine how grandparents and great-grandparents formed societies and how to utilize this information in searches.

For more information or to register, please email your name, address, and cell phone number to EastHillsSocial@gmail.com. First-come, first-served. There is no charge for this event.
