Letter to Governer Hochul
Below is a link to letter that I sent to Governor Hochul and our state officials in opposition to her current New York Housing Compact proposal to force communities to add housing, even multiple dwelling housing, to their current number of homes. In the event it is passed by the Legislature, and our communities do not comply with the proposal, the State could come in and take over our local zoning authority and destroy our home rule. If this legislation passes, we are prepared to go to court to fight this issue with other village mayors and town supervisors.
We need to protect our beautiful community and enviable lifestyle against unwanted development and undesirable controls. This initiative poses a serious threat to our Village, as well as every other suburban community in New York State.
