Village Taxes Due
Updated June 4, 2020:
We have applied for the maximum extension allowed by NY State, (21 days), to pay village taxes without penalty, and Governor Cuomo yesterday granted our Village the extension. Therefore, village taxes, due June 1st, but were payable by July 1st without penalty or interest, this year can now be paid on or before July 22, 2020 without interest or penalty. We hope the extension is helpful to those who would like to take advantage of it. Mailed payments must be postmarked with an official U.S. postal Service postmark by July 22, 2020 to avoid penalty and interest. Metered mail must be received in our office on or before July 22, 2020 to avoid penalty. Please see Executive Order attached.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE the Final Tax Roll and Warrant for the Village of East Hills has been completed for the 2020-2021 tax year. Taxes become due on June 1, 2020, and are payable without penalty until July 1, 2020.
Village Hall Offices are currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. We strongly encourage payment to be made via mail. Mailed payments must be postmarked with an official U.S. postal Service postmark by July 1, 2020 to avoid penalty. Metered mail must be received by July 1, 2020 to avoid penalty.
If you absolutely must pay in person, please call the Village Office at (516) 621-5600, Extension 250, or email firstname.lastname@example.org, after June 1st, 2020 and arrangements will be made.
Pursuant to Real Property Tax Law Section 1432: Payments received after July 1, 2020 immediately accrue a 5% penalty. Taxes received after July 31, 2020 accrue an additional 1% monthly thereafter until paid. A State fee will be added as of September 1, 2020. Further, in accordance with the law, the Village of East Hills cannot accept less than full payment of taxes and must collect accrued interest due.
